Welcome to this local history blog

Whilst researching for the new publication ‘Never Such Innocence’ – Sutton at Hone and Hawley during the Great War, there were a number of items that could not be included in the book because of space constraints.

The intention is to publish these “extras” as well as any other local history snippets about the villages of Sutton at Hone and Hawley along with related photos and images.

From your website I see a reference for January 1933 about Lieut C.F. Camburn promoting the Legion of Frontiersmen at Dartford. Was a section of the Frontiersmen established? Any details in this regard would be appreciated as well as any information about Lieut C.F. Camburn who was Cluade Fowler Camburn (1875-1945) who in 1922 was a nurseryman and seedsman of Hawley,Dartford. Camburn in 1945 was living at 98 Shirehall Rd in Hawley but died October 26,1945 at Torbay Hospital in Torquay Devon.
